Hiya! I am a first year Bsc Molecular biology and biotechnology student at Stellenbosch University. I matriculated last year with 4 distinctions. My teaching method is based on the principles of active recall and spaced repetition- 2 of the most effective study techniques there are. My aim is to get a student to know and understand the work well enough so that they are able to recall and apply the work in a test or exam situation. I approach each topic by giving the student a practice paper/test at the start to see what they know and what they don`t know. I then work off that and fill in the gaps in their knowledge by explaining concepts that they are struggling with. At the end of explaining said topics, I give them another practice test so that they are able to see where they are, what they understand and what they need to work on. This continues for every lesson. What sets me apart from other tutors is that I will provide you with a personalized spaced repetition timetable. This timetable works with your schedule and slots into your day. It shows you when you need to revisit topics that you`ve already covered because the more you see and engage with material, the more likely you`ll be able to recall it. I also teach you new effective techniques to help you study and work smarter, not harder and I`m always available even outside the scheduled lesson times if you need help.

Experience: I am a first year Bsc Molecular biology and biotechnology student at Stellenbosch University. Throughout my high school career I have tutored a range of subjects including physical sciences. I was head of my high school`s peer tutoring program and I was also a tutor in this program for physical sciences, mathematics, accounting, English and life sciences. I was also a part time tutor at KCC Saturday school- a school that provides learners from underprivileged schools with extra mathematics and English lessons.
