Information about Paul

I have worked in a number of locations throughout the world for Caltex (US, Singapore, Thailand, Malaysia and South Korea), which later merged into Chevron. Whilst the work scope throughout these assignments was mainly Finance and Compliance related, in my last position this included Legal and advisory work covering areas such as New Project assessment and leading, Assets Sales, Long Term Strategy Development and emergency planning for Korea expatriates. Note that throughout my career with Chevron, I have been heavily involved either directly or in an advisory role in strategies covering Chevron’s financial risks such as Interest rate risk management, currency exposures and management, Insurance and cash management.
The past 9 years I have been working in South Korea for Chevron as the Advisor to the Resident Country Chairman. This position was very Strategic for Chevron Corporation as the Affiliate in South Korea, GS Caltex Corporation, is Chevron’s biggest Marketing Organization outside of the US (with the 3rd biggest Crude and Petrochemical Refinery in the world). Whilst this organization is not directly managed by Chevron, Chevron maintains oversight over the organization through 2 resident Chevron employees, namely the Country Chairman and his advisor (the position I held). In this position I covered not only the Finance roll but also other functions and assisted the Chairman with all his fiduciary rolls especially during his absence. I was an Officer of the company through my position as Statutory Auditor and could attend all Board and Audit Committee meetings.
In late 2018 Chevron entered into agreement for the divestment of it’s assets in Chevron South Africa, my registered direct employee, to another company. As part of this decision to sell, all Expatriate workers working in other affiliates companies across the world for Chevron, but employed by the SA unit, were repatriated back to South Africa and offered a redundancy package, which I accepted, and elected to retire after 35 years’ service with Chevron. I was repatriated in September 2018 and my employment terminated with Chevron South Africa, however, my direct supervisor in Korea requested that I come back to Korea on a contract assignment, so that I can complete the 2nd phase in our evaluation of a new $2.5 bn. investment project that GS Caltex was pursuing, which I did. This lasted 3 months.
Following this assignment and following my appointment as a Trustee on the Earls Court Homeowners Association, I signed up and successfully completed a Homeowners Association course under the auspices of UCT.
