Information about Michael
I am a passionate and professional food science graduate with a keen interest in the colour, flavour and fragrances sector, having completed my BSc degree in Food Science, currently completing my Honours. Exceling at my studies I was awarded Golden Key Membership, an international honour society recognition.
Over the course of my studies I have constantly pursued further courses and training which have all provided invaluable insight into the field of food science, consumer science and food safety management systems with the objective that these courses complement my ambition to either follow a career in quality management of food/raw material production, NPD, or even as a trainee flavourist, depending on what opportunities are presented to me.
I have completed various courses: Basic Culinary Art (Level II), Consumer Perspectives of Food â VDS 417 through the University of Pretoria with Dr. NM Marx-Pienaar, ISO 22000:2005 (FSSC) Food Safety Management Requirements and ISO 22000:2005 (FSSC) Food Safety Management Internal Auditing with BSI â Mrs. Linda Jackson.
My key objective is to be able to continue to pursue learning, constantly broadening my horizons and knowledge base in order to make a valuable contribution to the company.
I was selected to attend the International Conference of the Institute of Food Technologists in Chicago (USA) as a Global Challenge Participant in July â 2018, which provided invaluable insight into new and emerging technologies as well as exposure to all entities involved in new product development.
I have had the opportunity to perform a number of leadership roles and find that team collaboration achieves far more than that achieved alone. Having said that I am able to work independently but enjoy being part of a team, one that proliferates ideas into real-world solutions. I thrive on challenges and the subsequent resolution of problems experienced during day-to-day work.
I have a good knowledge base of sensory panelling and evaluation of food samples in an effort to gauge insight into desirable food sensory attributes.
I have also had the opportunity to perform a personal business role which has provided some insight into basic accounts and customer relations.
As a young, well-educated, ambitious graduate I would value the opportunity to be considered for suitable roles which would enable me to make valuable contributions to my employer.
