and tested chemical plant processes, equipment and products.
Projects
1. Production of pyrolysis oil from plastic waste generated at Mimosa mine.
I conducted a project that would help control plastic waste disposal in an environmentally friendly and
economic manner. The main objective of the research was to produce pyrolysis oil which is valuable and
can be blended with diesel to lower fuel costs. The project was successful and my supervisors were
impressed and acknowledged that it should be implemented.
2. Separation of plastic and ore in trash generated at Mimosa Mine
The main objective was to remove crushed plastic waste from ore using dense medium separation. The
procedure involved separation of heavy ore and light plastic using water in a small tank as a separation
medium. The waste was removed as the overflow while the ore as the underflow.
3. Optimization of the flotation circuit to improve grade and recovery by varying Reagent dosage points.
