Information about Luyabonga

I am a young mathematical sciences graduate who is interested in the development and application of mathematical and scientific skills in South Africa. I believe that Mathematics and its various topics gives an individual a systematic and logical way of thinking, especially when instilled when one is at a young age, that is at school level.

I have above average aptitude in Mathematics and Physics. As a result, I was awarded the Eastern Cape Office of the Premier Scholarship. I then enrolled for a Bachelor of Science degree in Computational and Applied Mathematics at the University of the Witwatersrand.

I am now enrolled for the Postgraduate Certificate in Education (PGCE) at UNISA. My majors are Maths for the FET phase and Natural Science in the Senior phase. I do not attend lectures at UNISA, therefore I will have time to teach at your school. The reason I want to be a teacher is that I would like to equip young South Africans with the necessary mathematical skills that are required in the real world or in further studies. I would like to remove the misconception that Maths and Science is for a selected few individuals by showing people that with the proper guidance anyone can excel in Maths. I would also like to show learners that Maths has real world applications and that it is not there to make their lives difficult. I am also willing to offer extra lessons to slow learners in order to provide one on one interaction. My 2016 May/June UNISA results are:
Details EDAHOD5 057 Passed
Details EDDHODJ 050 Passed
Details EDLHODM 054 Passed
Details EDMHODR 070 Passed
my.unisa.ac.za student number is 50633295, my pass word is Yanelisa

I am registered with SACE and my SACE registration number is 12352378. When given this opportunity, I will be very contributory to the school, be respectful to my superiors or colleagues and acquire as much skills that I can that will make me a good educator. I am a Volleyball player. I have played both at school and at club level. I was a silver medallist at the Knockando Wits halls of residence Olympics. I hope my application will reach your favourable consideration and that I will be hearing from you soon with a positive response.

Kind regards

Experience: After graduation, I got a job as a temporary Mathematics and Physical Science teacher back in 2008 at Mayibenye Senior Secondary School. When at the school, I introduced a composite schedule that combined all the grades results in each subject. I used Microsoft Excel and its commands in order to make summaries like averages and the number of learners who achieved a certain level. This was before SA-SAMS was used at schools. In 2011 and 2012 I was a full time mathematics tutor at Master Maths in the Mthatha branch. I am now able to interact with school learners and can help them to become independent thinkers. Two of my students who were on the Advanced Maths Programme got distinctions.
